Alumni Spotlight - Jenny Waltz

Alumni Spotlights feature MHS Alumni who have been nominated by others for the work they are doing or how they impact their community. Jenny Waltz is coming back to Muskego-Norway as a special education teacher. See more about her decision to come home!

Jenny Waltz, Class of 2011

1. What activities, clubs, or organizations were you involved with during high school?

Student council, chorale, chamber choir, the musicals (Wizard of Oz, Les Mis, Anything Goes), played soccer and did shot put and discus. Skubie's Squad! :)

2. What were you best known for in high school?

Well, my last name is Waltz. I loved the music department at MHS. Singing in Concert Choir, Sorelle Cantanti, Chorale, and Chamber Choir were highlights for me. The musicals were too. I made a bunch of new friends, learned how to manage my time wisely (rehearsals were intense), and really grew musically as well. We all worked tremendously hard to create a great show. It was an impressive process, but so rewarding in numerous ways.

3. What have you been up to since graduation?

After I graduated from MHS, I went to Winona State University for a year in Minnesota. After one year at WSU, I transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I attended UW from 2012 to December of 2015, in which I graduated with my Bachelors degree in Special Education Cross Categorical. Since graduating, I've been busy traveling between Muskego and Madison. I was a guest paraprofessional at Lake Denoon in the spring, and in the summer, I moved back to Madison to teach summer school. I taught at Lincoln Elementary as a 5th grade special education teacher. This summer, I spent a lot of my time on campus visiting with old friends, waving to Abe on Bascom, and enjoying Lake Mendota at the terrace. Now that the summer has come to a close, I have moved to New Berlin to prepare for my first year back in Muskego-Norway at Mill Valley!

4. What made you decide to come back to work for Muskego-Norway Schools?

At first, I wasn't sure if I wanted to come back home. I've lived here my whole life and my family has been pretty involved in the district. It's all I've known. I thought I wanted to branch out and try something different. But Muskego-Norway is an outstanding district with a lot to offer its students, staff, families, and the community. I had a really positive experience attending school here and grew a lot as a person. Muskego-Norway taught me a lot about myself and also prepared me for "adulthood." I am very appreciative and grateful for my teachers and other individuals who were part of my education here. I hope I can have the same strong impact on my future students as well.

5. Any additional comments you would like to make to old classmates or the Warrior Nation community:

Thank you for welcoming me back home! Muskego-Norway has grown so much as a district and as a community and I am incredibly excited to be part of that positive change. Go Warriors!
