Paul Salsieder, Class of 2014
1. What activities, clubs, or organizations were you involved with during high school?
Drama Club and French National Honor Society were my two main extracurricular commitments.
2. What were you best known for in high school?
It seemed like I was pretty well known for my art, but I probably made the most friendships through theatre and the Drama club.
3. What have you been up to since graduation?
Since I graduated from Muskego I’ve been at Carthage College in Kenosha. I study Art with an emphasis in Painting and Art History. During the summer of 2016 I applied for a grant to fund the making of a mural in the Hedberg Library at Carthage College. Under the mentorship of Prof. Diane Levesque I took a 6-foot-by-21-foot wall space and transformed it into a painting that will stay with Carthage for many years to come. I’m currently pursuing a position as Assistant Research Curator at the Racine Art Museum.
4. In what ways are you impacting your community or making an impact in your field of work?
I’m staying engaged in the southeastern Wisconsin Art Community, helping out with gallery events like the Annual 16th Street Studios Open House where sixty local Artists open their studios to the public for a day. I also try to be conscious of how I can use my artwork to beautify and give back to the community. I’m currently in the process of finding additional funding for a mural on the outside of Revisions Gallery to enliven the street appeal in Kenosha.
5. Any additional comments you would like to make to old classmates or the Warrior Nation community:
I’d like to give a big shout-out to all my former teachers, especially Mr. Plier, Mrs. McCarthy, and Madame Fox, Mr. Michaud, and Mrs. Barbieri. All of you have touched my life so much and helped me think about the world more clearly. I’m so grateful to have had you as teachers and so thankful that many more students will be able to learn from you.
